Put it to good use.
It was, what, last week when I said goodbye was it?
And I’m back. And I’ve found a way to give something back to my tumblelog. And that’s Project 365. And I hope I’m not too late.
And before I say another and, I’d start with my first picture.
Memories (and the web) to good use.
goodbye.
i think i’m saying goodbye to online blogs for a long while. i’ve regained my love for a handwritten diary.
goodbye for now tumblr. :)

Finally!
I now own a diary, as a gift from Ate Sarah. All my memories are there and will go there. Is it time to leave tumblr?
22 isn’t too late to become a lady.

Back to Basics
This will be my mantra for the year 2009. Tomorrow I’ll have to fly back to Manila for school, where a patient will be waiting for our group in Medicine class at 8am. A whirlwind to start my year.
Everyone seems so busy, but after our prayer retreat last Friday, I learned that it is always good to take time away, so you prevent life from controlling you.
So I’m going back to basics,...

Happy New Year Everyone!
Pacem!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted something here. I’ve been pretty busy enjoying my vacation. But this one’s worth the post. Haha.
My sister got her new puppy on Christmas Eve. So after n hours of looking for a name for cute little female pup, we came up with Pacem, Latin for peace. From the song “Dona Nobis Pacem”, because of the season it was given to us.

Greetings
Quite late but anyway, Merry Christmas everyone!
I feel a Spanish 101 coming up.
I’ve been enjoying my Portuguese lessons quite much but much of the words are unrecognizable still. Of course, it’s a whole new language all over again.
So when my very short attention span got the best of me, I decided to check out the Spanish lessons. And I had so much fun breezing through the alphabet and pronunciations. They were all so familiar.
Of course, that’s because...
Confession is the key that opens the door to forgiveness.
– Our Daily Bread. (God does have a perfect timing. But I’m not yet ready to forgive just yet. This is a tough one.)
but if I had to choose her or the sun, I’d be one nocturnal son of a gun.

Portuguese 101: Popular A's
Hmmm, I’m feeling bum today. But pet society in facebook has kept me quite happy for the past hour. Of course I’m not missing my online Portuguese lessons. One word I love, and I value, but seem to have evaded me for the past few weeks is Amizade: which means Friendship. Awww. It’s all right.
Portuguese 101: Popular A's
For the next 10 most popular Portuguese words that start with A, I got 3 different words that refer to love and these are my favorites. They are: “amor”-“love”, “amar”-“to love” and interestingly, “adorar”-“to love or to adore”. hmmm.
Even jasper found my new found “amor” for Portuguese. He kept mixing up...

Portuguese 101: First 10 A's
First 10 common Portuguese words that start with A done for today. My favorite word is “Abraco” (pronounced as abraso), which means “hug”. It’s interesting to note that “braso”, in our vernacular means “arm”. How cute.
Question: How can I type in Latin characters in tumblr? So I can spell the words right here.
Portuguese 101: Alphabet
pretty much the same as our alphabet except that H is Aga, J is Jota, W is Dabliu and Y is Ipsilon. And that, most have E’s before and after the consonants.
it also doesn’t usually include K, W and Y. hmmm. but anyway, I’m learning this alphabet for the rest of the week. Then at the end of the week, I should learn how to spell my name using it.
and maybe also write down...
Portuguese 101
Magallanes, my last name, has a ring of history about it. Just ask other Filipinos (yeah, it’s Magellan). And growing up in Bacolod, elementary in a Chinese school, high school in Iloilo, college until present in Manila, and Jasper being from Bohol, I’ve accumulated quite a colorful vocabulary from 4 different languages. I suddenly realized that I’m bored in the language...
I’ve professed my love over and over again for Lucida Grande 9. Now...

Human Hairball
I just found out today in General Pathology class that there’s actually a human hairball that can get stuck in the stomach and there’s a freakin’ medical term for it. It’s trichobezoar.
Oh my, the cat just spit out a trichobezoar! Haha.
Yeah, I give you the permission to tell me “Whatever. Geek.” haha.

Moving on to Process
I loved reading Zen-to-Done and I’m currently trying to learn all these skills in making my life more productive minus all the stress.
Task 1: Collect
This was way too easy for me to do so I just gave it 15 days to get more used to. More because I’ve been doing this for years. Heaven knows just how many notebooks I’ve used to write down stuff to get them off my mind and onto...
Quantum of Solace
Yeah! Just got home from the movies. While America hails Obama as the newest member of its series of presidents (I never had a hint of doubt that he will win), I got to watch the newest movie in the 007 series. I loved the fight scenes but the story was a bit of blah. It did not have the same “heart” as Casino Royale. It was Bond kicking behinds (bawal ang …) so quickly he had...

Who's watching the Watchmen?
I am!!! Ok, not until it’s showing in cinemas in 2009.
But I’m reading the Watchmen and I’m absolutely hooked. Too hooked that I’m almost done. It’s one of the best comic books (wow, how uncomic it is though) I’ve read. And the scenarios are eeringly very similar to the situation of the world today. To think that this has been created 10 years ago, Alan...
thirty days to collect
i’ve just read the earlier parts of ztd by leo babauta and it made a lot of sense to me.
so i’m up for the thirty-day challenge of collecting everything. i might use my phone though. it’s the only thing i carry around everywhere that i can use to take down notes.
this is my um public declaration of commitment. haha.
thirty days starts in just a few hours. i wish me luck. haha....

generation gap please
I’ve heard for countless times rants about just how the technological generation gap isn’t working for them. How you can’t get your father send your due-today paper to your email from your 2-hour-drive home computer because he doesn’t know how to send one. Or how you can’t get why your mom isn’t replying to your already-amounting-to-a-hundred messages asking if...

How long has this been in the refrigerator? →
It might not be important for most, but it’s pretty important for me to know just how long my food can stay in the fridge without getting spoiled.
As a medical student, the only things I’ve got at my place are a microwave, a refrigerator and a rice cooker, which pretty much explains why this is a must know for me.

exactly how do med students live their lives? hmmm. me and my classmates are always online. almost always. especially because we always have groupwork and papers to do. that’s why i’m taking the opportunity to sneak into their lives and document their feelings by listing down their status messages. secretly. haha.
